Ensure the Effectiveness of Your
Business' Risk Agreement
Developed by Reb Gregg, a noted recreation law attorney from
Houston, Texas, this Guide was presented to attendees of the InSites 2003 Parks
& Paddles seminar, "Liability Waivers for Paddlesports Businesses," on
November 15 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The seminar discussed how ineffective
waivers, or risk acknowledgment agreements, can cause liability settlements to
increase, resulting in increased premiums which may put your insurance
availability in jeopardy. Your agreement with your customer, including its
waiver and risk acknowledgment provisions, is usually your first line of
defense when injury or death claims arise.
PPA also announced in the
September/October edition of the Paddlesports Pro newsletter, your 2004 renewal
with RIA will require that you review and modify if necessary, your existing
agreement with a local attorney.
